The winding course of the Nile River to the south leads to Aswan. Here are some of the most representative monuments of Pharaonic Egypt, the Temple of Ramses II (or Temple of Abu Simbel). But there is more to see and so today I share a little about the Monastery of St. Simon, a Coptic monastery in ruins near the desert city

San Simon Monastery was built by Coptic monks, then invaded by King Saladin, to be rebuilt in the tenth century by monks from another congregation, was reoccupied and abandoned varis times. The monastery was organized into several terraces: on one hand was the basilica and in another residence.
Today the monastery is an excellent place to see beautiful views of the Nile and Aswan city.
